Classic chocolate-dipped strawberries with white and dark chocolate shavings

2 cups dark chocolate chunks or chocolate chips
12 large fresh strawberries
1 cup dark chocolate shavings (see note)
1 cup white chocolate shavings
Place a small amount of water in a pot and bring to a boil. Place a bowl inside the pot, large enough to cover the opening of the pot. Do not let the bowl touch the water below it. Place chocolate chunks inside the bowl and melt. Remove the pot from the heat, leaving the bowl covering the pot so the chocolate does not cool.
One by one, dip a strawberry into the melted chocolate. Roll over chocolate shavings so that the shavings attach to the chocolate coating. Place on a pan layered with wax paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or no longer than 24 hours.
Note: Chocolate shavings can be substituted with shredded coconut, rainbow decorettes, nuts, etc.
