Playing in the dirt: Free downloadable activities for kids
Apr./May 2012 California Bountiful magazine
What do plants need to survive and thrive? Thousands of California elementary school students know the answer, thanks to the Seed Survivor Mobile—an agricultural classroom on wheels. From October 2011 through the end of April 2012, the truck and trailer unit traveled to nearly 100 schools across the state to teach children about growing healthy plants and where their food comes from.
The mobile unit—supported by the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (CFAITC) and Agrium/Crop Production Services—is hitting the road and heading to Colorado, but the lessons and interactive games from the trailer remain accessible online. Visit the Kids' Corner on the CFAITC website at kids.learnaboutag.org to play word search, memory, mystery and coloring games that reinforce learning about healthy plants.
