Having regular medical check-ups, immunizations and screening tests is an important part of your health.
With all the demands on your time, it’s easy to come up with reasons to put off your annual health exam. However, having regular medical check-ups, immunizations and screening tests is an important part of your health. The annual physical exam or periodic health evaluation is the perfect time to assess your health, discover your health risks and learn strategies to help prevent them.
To assist your doctor in determining your medical needs and the most appropriate treatment plan, you should arrive at your next appointment fully prepared.
Know your history: Take the time to review and document the names and numbers of other physicians who treat you, a list of medications and their dosage information, and your medical history.
Take charge of your health: Make a list of questions, new health problems, symptoms and concerns that you would like to discuss with your physician. Take notes that you can refer back to after your appointment.
Follow up: Schedule follow-up appointments and lab tests immediately, when you are least likely to forget. And keep a list of any non-urgent questions that you can take with you on your next visit.
Make your annual appointment today, and use these tips to secure quality time with your physician and ensure you receive the best health care possible.
