Nectarines, aptly named after the sweetness of nectar, have rolled into markets. It's not hard to guess which gene separates the nectarine from its cousin, the peach. Yes, the fuzzy one! Ninety-five percent of nectarines in the U.S. are grown right here in California and are a treat to eat fresh, dried and even grilled.
